A: First, a small disclaimer: PMI Southern Alberta was not involved in hosting this event, nor did our chapter participate in the selection of speaker topics. As such, we are not in a position to provide advice to individuals relating to how many PDUs can be claimed.
However... Power Within has indicated that in the past their events qualify as Category 4 PDUs. I suggest you refer to the PMI "Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Handbook".
In this handbook, Category 4 PDUs are defined as:
| | Category 4: Courses offered by Other Education Provider
Contact hours of project and/or program management education may be earned by attending relevant educational courses offered by organizations not registered with PMI. To calculate the number of PDUs earned, use the following formula: one contact hour of learning relevant to project and/or program management within a structured activity or course equals one PDU.
Documentation required upon PMI audit/request: registration form, certificate or letter of attendance, and a brochure or course materials outlining the subject matter covered and the qualifications of the instructor/lecturer. |
You should only claim PDUs for the actual number of hours listening to speakers (eg. receiving instruction). PMI does audit PDU claims, so always keep documentation to demonstrate the legitimacy of PDU claims. If you would prefer a more "official" statement from PMI, please contact the Customer Care team at PMI Headquarters.
