PMI Southern Alberta is a vibrant chapter in the Project Management Institute network, with more than 1,900 active members. The chapter is focused on promoting project management principals within the community, business, and practitioners. PMI-SAC has dozens of helpful volunteers who assist in putting on world class events. The highlights of 2009 included:

  • Canadian Project Management week – recognizing PM Week across Canada, and helping to celebrate with a week full of educational, grass roots, and networking events;
  • Host of the Region 1 conference – Southern Alberta hosted chapter leaders from northwest USA and Canada in an informative three-day conference focusing on chapter excellence;
  • Professional Development Conference – a world-class two-day professional development conference with speakers from across North America http://www.pmisacconference.com
  • PMI-SAC Awards Gala – a formal dinner with over 550 attendees recognizing project excellence in Southern Alberta;
  • Mentorship Program – two successful campaigns in 2009 to match mentors and protégés in a collaborative learning environment;
  • PMP/CAPM Exam Preparation – coordinated and provided instructors for two exam preparation sessions;
  • Monthly dinner meetings – events which promote continued learning through engaging speakers and the opportunity to build business network amongst fellow professionals.

Vision Statement

The PMI Southern Alberta Chapter will be recognized as a vibrant and innovative leader in the professional practice of Project Management in Southern Alberta.

PMI-SAC will be the association of choice for existing and aspiring Project Management professionals, businesses and educational organizations; supporting their networking, learning, mentoring, career needs and business requirements.

Mission Statement

PMI-SAC exists to promote project management values, principles, practices and capabilities in Southern Alberta by providing education, information and a forum for communication exchange for the benefit of its membership, the businesses in its geography, and current and aspiring project management professionals.

Strategic Goals

The Board of Directors met in 2009 to review the current state of operations, clarify the board’s vision for the future, and articulate our short and long-term goals and objectives.

The outcomes of this exercise included five major over-riding strategic objectives, and initial tactical plans.
